Alverno Community Conference- “We Lead, We Vote, We Fight: Exploring Women's Empowerment from Suffrage to #MeToo”

Hi- exciting news kicking off 2020! On Friday, February 28, I will be presenting at the 2020 Alverno Community Conference. This year’s theme is “We Lead, We Vote, We Fight: Exploring Women's Empowerment from Suffrage to #MeToo”.

In the session, participants will engage in a table read through of a one act play to challenge the paradigm of women’s roles in western religion and mythology. There will be open dialogue about agency, authority, and power. The play centers around a conversation between God and Lucifer (Lucy) who are good friends.

To register, follow the link below! My workshop is titled Reimaging Creation Myths: Women as Masters of the Universe

Poets Read Some Stuff Somplace in Milwaukee

Poets Read Some Stuff returns to Var Gallery with featured poet Bobby Drake bringing his bombastic and deeply rhythmic work to the gallery stage. Raw, honest, and wild, his poetry transcends medium and genre to create an unforgettable performance style that he has taken across both the city and the country for over a decade.

Monologues from members of Heard Space, a performing collective of womxn of color, will join the lineup for a stunning night of poetry and spoken word in an intimate setting.

The reading begins at 7pm with a $7 cover, however nobody will be turned away. Var Gallery will feature its annual collective exhibition at this time. Var is an all age space with a full bar for patrons over 21. This series is curated by Sam Pekarske with promotional photography from Lily Shea.
